The Debate & Panel Sessions at IROS 2025 offer a unique platform to engage directly with global pioneers in robotics research and industry. These sessions are designed to ignite dynamic, thought-provoking discussions on critical trends, controversies, and innovations shaping robotics' future. Proposals on topics within the conference scope are welcome.



Session Formats



l Debates

Two opposing teams argue a contentious motion from affirmative and negative perspectives, guided by a moderator through structured rebuttals and audience discussion.


l Panels

A moderator leads 3-5 experts discussing a broad topic from diverse viewpoints, actively involving the audience.



Submission Guidelines



Your submission should include the following details:


l Topic

Clearly state the specific, contentious motion (for Debates) or the multifaceted theme (for Panels).


l Abstract (Max 250 words)

·  Explain the topic’s timeliness, criticality, and provocative nature for the robotics.

·  Provide a concise overview, key questions, and expected impact/significance.


l Participants

·  List all confirmed speakers (names, affiliations, expertise).

·  Identify the proposed Moderator (name, affiliation) and their relevant facilitation experience.


l Structure Outline

·  Provide a detailed timeline (e.g., introduction, rebuttals/debate, audience Q&A).

·  Describe the audience engagement plan (e.g., live polling, structured Q&A, discussion segments).

·  Mention planned use of demos/videos (especially for Debates).
